![]() Outside, we made playful reference to the traditional American schoolhouse. Inside, we made special use of local artistic talent to generate playful, one-of-a-kind wall images that the children find friendly and are much loved by children, parents and staff alike. ![]() |
In May 1999, ALT was hired to do a complete renovation and conversion of an existing country church building into a new consolidated kindergarten village for the Clark Shawnee Local School District. In just 75 days the project was designed, documented, bid and built. This emerging concept of creating an entirely separate place for children at the very beginning of their formal schooling the kindergarten village was carefully interpreted to create a playful, safe and reassuring environment. This is a place where learning is truly fun. The building is 6,000 sq.ft., with three classrooms, a general-purpose room, kitchen, offices and a special learning lab.
